It's late. I'm tired. It's after 10 pm, Eastern Time, and I'm still at my office. Working. Sending emails to my office staff. Drafting letters and motions. It doesn't get much more non-MFA than that.
Hence, the need to procrastinate.
For those who remember me, I'm Mitch, and I was in Madrid '03, '04 and '05 and in the Low Res program (fiction) since Spring '03. I have basically one more semester to go to get my MFA, along with that pesky, minor business of, let's see, how shall I say it...finishing the actual novel.
No problem there, right? Piece o' cake. Move along, nothing to see here.
Anyway, thanks, Jen, for doing your usual terrific job of organizing and giving us all a place to rant, vent, worry, whine, and procrastinate.
Later....

You'll finish the novel - which ya know, I've actually never really gotten a chance to see? Preposterous! Mind sharing some here? Although you could be past the point where you're into having prying eyes pore over the piece... if so, maybe one of your excellent op eds. The one from this summer was particularly poignant...
and don't be fooled. I am NOT organized. I'm obsessed with a few particular things, and right now, my low-res/literary life and friends are chief among them :).
ps - a talking liquor bottle could come in handy to read about right now, since I'm so tired after dealing with screaming pre-schoolers and run away chickens and goats all day that I have the urge to whisper sweet nothings to the bottle of wine I just perched beside my bed...
I may be able to post a little bit of it in the near future. I'm in "I hate these characters" rewrite mode, when I do get a chance to rewrite, which isn't much lately. I do a great deal of bankruptcy work, and the law is changing (not for the better, unless your initials are MBNA) on October 17, so lots of people are trying to beat the deadline.
But if it's an op-ed you want, it's an op-ed you shall have:

Mitch's Awesome Op-Ed
I thought this op-ed was brilliant - its engaging, evocative, empathetic, and has a nice little punch at the end. How often do you publish op-eds, and how does one go about publishing an op-ed even? Do you have a typical topic, or just pick something when you sit down to write?
